A & B Musical Instruments Pty. Ltd. have been serving Geelong and South West Barwon Region since the 1st October, 1985. The Directors, Bill and Anne Van Parreren, purchased the General Musical Instrument division of Blackley's Musicland to retail musical instruments and accessories and repair and service the same.

Bill is a musician and at that time, had eleven years public playing experience and had been employed by Blackley's Musicland as Sales Manager. As a performer, Bill felt that he could draw on his experience and knowledge to help other budding musicians. Anne gained extensive bookkeeping and administrative experience after eight years of employment with a leading real estate business in Geelong.

Initially Bill and Anne occupied a premises at 30 Malop St together with Blackley's Musicland. This arrangement was very successful as the businesses were related, the markets were similar and they were able to share costs. However, as a natural progression, the businesses expanded and due to a lack of space, parted company to find larger, individual premises.

July 1989 saw A & B Musical Instruments trading from 162 Malop St, Geelong. During the next seven years the company continued to grow and become stronger despite the unfavourable economic climate. This culminated in the purchase of 173/175 Malop St in 1991 an old, rundown, two storey building, diagonally opposite the current shop. With successful planning and design, the building was completely refurbished and extended taking in the growing needs of the business.

July 1996 saw the last move to 175 Malop St, Geelong. This premises has been designed to see A & B Musical Instruments Pty. Ltd. diversify into other music related areas. Not only do they have an extensive showroom downstairs, the second floor houses the Music School, Rehearsal Studio and provisions for a Recording Studio.

A & B Music looks forward to providing musicians in Geelong and the South West Barwon Region with facilities to enhance their musicianship for many years to come.
